     SpeakUp! is striving to change the way some men are taught to treat women. Street harassment has become an epidemic that is present in every country across the globe. By diving into the root of the issue and teaming up with other organizations who support our mission, we can achieve equality among all genders. Like all other forms of harassment, street harassment has the negative effect of making women feel uncomfortable and unsafe.                   Unfortunately, generations of outdated masculine ideals have warped young boys' minds into believing women are inferior to men. In a patriarchal society where social institutions are built around benefitting men, it's understandable as to why young boys would trust this idea. It's important to note, women aren't seeking to be superior to men but rather equal in relation to men in all  practices of life.

     This may seem like a daunting task, but by speaking up when someone's behavior is inappropriate or by raising your son to treat women with respect, you can be apart of changing our future course. Speak Up! is determined to educate others about what it truly means to be a man because a real man is kind, respectful, and emotionally intelligent. It starts with a conversation, and it can start with you.
